The 13 chapters of Isaiah in Second Nephi, read as a single timeline of the last days
About a third of Isaiah is in the Book of Mormon, but we are not told why. Thirteen consecutive chapters are in Second Nephi alone, and again we are not told why. With over 1,200 scriptural references, The Isaiah Timeline shows how those 13 chapters serve as a chronological timeline of events for the last days.
- How Isaiah 2–14 reads as a single, ordered prophecy of the last days
- How an “Assyrian king” will terrorize the promised land and erase the borders of many nations
- How a “holy seed” will establish Zion and defeat the Assyrian
- How a “messenger,” a “servant of the Lord,” will lead the faithful to perfection in Zion (JST Isa. 42:19–20)
What this book answers
About a third of Isaiah is in the Book of Mormon, and thirteen consecutive chapters are in Second Nephi alone. The Isaiah Timeline argues that those chapters were quoted as a block because they are a block: a chronological timeline of the last days, from the first earthquakes to the binding of Lucifer. Over 1,200 scriptural references tie each step to the rest of the standard works.
Do I need to read The Words of Isaiah first?
No. The Isaiah Timeline stands alone and is the better place to start. The Words of Isaiah is the full reference you will want once the timeline is clear.
